Diverse talks programme and well-known guests at ART COLOGNE 2023

Things are getting started this coming week, and the 56th edition of ART COLOGNE will open its doors from 16 to 19 November 2023. In addition to a high quality exhibition of around 170 galleries and dealers from around the world and various special events, the art fair offers those interested in art a diverse talks programme over three days.Well-known guests and experts will discuss current themes and challenges of the art scene from Friday, 17 to Sunday, 19 November. A total of 18 different discussions will take place in the ART COLOGNE TALKS LOUNGE in Hall 11.1, D 011. All programme points will be streamed live via the website www.artcologne.de.

Among other things, visitors can look forward to the discussion "Where to with all the art? On art as a material challenge", during which Boris Pofalla (Die Welt), Stephan Berg (Kunstmuseum Bonn) and the collector Carolin Scharpff-Striebich will share their insights.
Constanze Fischbeck (Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design), Florian Matzner (Kunstakademie München) and Ana Dimke (HBK Braunschweig) occupy themselves with the question of "Where to with all the artists? About the training situation in the art landscape and the future of artist careers – academies in crisis?

In the artist talk on the New Acquisitions Collection of the LBBW, the painter Franz Ackermann talks with Elke Buhr, editor-in-chief of Monopol magazine.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of KUNSTFORUM, the theme of "Going South... Travelling to art. Biennials at the intersection of tomorrow will be discussed (in English) The discussion will involve Isabelle Bertolotti and Alexia Fabre (Biennale Lyon), Hedwig Fijen (Manifesta 15 Barcelona) and Carlos Antunes (Bienal de arte contemporanea de Coimbra) together with Ann-Katrin Günzel (Editor-in-chief of KUNSTFORUM).
In the late afternoon, Nicole Fritz (Kunsthalle Tübingen), Julia Voss (Co-curator of "Hilma af Klimt und Wassily Kandisnsky" in the Kunstsammlung NRW) and Nanette Snoep (Rautenstrauch Joest Museum, Cologne) will exchange ideas on the theme of "The New Voodoo. Spiritualism in art, yesterday and today."

On the last day of ART COLOGNE, host Kathrin Luz welcomes this year's ART COLOGNE prize winner and bookseller Walther König in the TALKS LOUNGE to talk with him and the author and journalist Regina Wyrwoll about the topic of "Archive art. About (art) books as timeless repositories of knowledge."
In a conversation with Andreas Blühm (Groniger Museum), Stefan Koldehoff and Rahel Klein (Deutschlandradio) discuss the topic "Crime scene art world. About the various ways for the appropriation of art" in greater depth.
To conclude the programme, the expert, author and collector Sasa Hanten-Schmidt and the art theorist Wolfgang Ullrich will exchange ideas on the topic of "Value analysis artwork. About objective definition of value and subjective purchase decisions."

Vielfältiges Talks-Programm und namhafte Gäste auf der ART COLOGNE 2023
18 Programmpunkte an drei Tagen ++ Vor Ort in Köln und als Livestream ++ Namhafte Gäste wie Franz Ackermann, Wolfgang Ullrich, Sasa Hanten-Schmidt, Julia Voss, Josh Baer und Walther König ++ Aktuelle Herausforderungen und Themen der internationalen Kunstszene
Kommende Woche ist es so weit und die 56. Ausgabe der ART COLOGNE öffnet vom 16. bis 19. November 2023 ihre Tore. Zusätzlich zur hochkarätigen Ausstellung von rund 170 Galerien und Händlern aus aller Welt und diversen Sonderschauen, bietet die Messe Kunstinteressierten an drei Tagen ein vielfältiges Talks-Programm.Von Freitag, den 17. bis Sonntag, den 19. November diskutieren namhafte Gäste sowie Expertinnen und Experten aktuelle Themen und Herausforderungen der Kunstszene. Insgesamt finden 18 verschiedene Gespräche in der ART COLOGNE TALKS LOUNGE in Halle 11.1, D 011 statt. Alle Programmpunkte werden live über die Website www.artcologne.de gestreamt.

Besucherinnen und Besucher können sich unter anderem auf das Gespräch "Wohin mit der ganzen Kunst? Über Kunst als materielle Herausforderung" freuen, bei dem Boris Pofalla (Die Welt), Stephan Berg (Kunstmuseum Bonn) und Sammlerin Carolin Scharpff-Striebich ihre Einsichten teilen.
Im Anschluss beschäftigen sich Constanze Fischbeck (HfG Karlsruhe), Florian Matzner (Kunstakademie München) und Ana Dimke (HBK Braunschweig) mit der Frage "Wohin mit den ganzen Künstler:innen? Über die Ausbildungssituation in der Kunstlandschaft und die Zukunft von Künstler:innen-Karrieren – Akademien in der Krise?"

Maler Franz Ackermann spricht im Künstlertalk zur New Acquisitions-Sammlung der LBBW mit Elke Buhr, Chefredakteurin des Monopol Magazins.
Anlässlich des 50-jährigen Jubiläums des KUNSTFORUMS wird daraufhin über das Thema "Going South... Auf der Reise zur Kunst. Biennalen an der Schnittstelle von morgen" (in Englisch) gesprochen. Das Gespräch führen Isabelle Bertolotti und Alexia Fabre (Biennale Lyon), Hedwig Fijen (Manifesta 15 Barcelona) und Carlos Antunes (Bienal de arte contemporanea de Coimbra) mit Ann-Katrin Günzel (Chefredakteurin KUNSTFORUM).
Am späten Nachmittag werden sich Nicole Fritz (Kunsthalle Tübingen), Julia Voss (Co-Kuratorin „Helma af Klint und Wassily Kandinsky“ in der Kunstsammlung NRW) und Nanette Snoep (Rautenstrauch Joest Museum, Köln) über das Thema „The New Vodoo. Spiritualismus in der Kunst gestern und heute“ austauschen.

Am letzten Tag der ART COLOGNE begrüßt Moderatorin Kathrin Luz den diesjährigen ART COLOGNE-Preisträger und Buchhändler Walther König in der TALKS LOUNGE, um gemeinsam mit ihm und der Autorin und Journalistin Regina Wyrwoll über das Thema „Archiv Kunst. Über (Kunst-)Bücher als zeitlose Wissensspeicher“ zu sprechen.
Im Gespräch mit Andreas Blühm (Groniger Museum) vertiefen Stefan Koldehoff und Rahel Klein (Deutschlandradio) das Thema "Tatort Kunstwelt. Über die verschiedenen Wege der Kunstaneignung.“
Zum Abschluss des Programms werden sich die Sachverständige, Autorin und Sammlerin Sasa Hanten-Schmidt und der Kunsttheoretiker Wolfgang Ullrich zum Thema „Wertanalyse Kunstwerk. Über objektive Wertbestimmung und subjektive Kaufentscheidungen“ austauschen.
