Potentials of (art) archives
How do networks function in the art system?
(Art) archives have historically had a reputation for being dusty and the work in them dry. Yet they provide the "contexts for art" and can answer questions such as: How did artists become known? Why were certain artworks realised and others did not get beyond the point of conception? How do networks function in the art system? Which actors are involved?
The panel will discuss from various perspectives what potential the photos, correspondence, invoices, scripts and much more stored in the archive boxes offer for interdisciplinary research and mediation and how these can have a lasting effect on society.
On the panel will be:
- Dr. Carla Cugini, Peter und Irene Ludwig Stiftung, Aachen
- Dr. Barbara Könches, ZERO foundation, Düsseldorf
- Mischa Kuball, Künstler, Düsseldorf
- Anna Wondrak, Künstler:innenarchiv der Stiftung Kunstfonds, Brauweiler
