Topics such as provenance, property issues as well as in the private and public sector, cultural heritage law in Germany and abroad or the title insurance should be considered from different perspectives.
Title Insurance, currently barely common in Germany, secures ownership of a work of art. Without proving the provenance, this can hardly be guaranteed. What kind of resource does the insurance sector use? Is it even possible to cover the authenticity of an artwork by insurance?
How do insurers handle today the question of provenance in day-to-day business? Is an in-house provenance research department the general rule or do they buy the expertise externally? The task is clear: To know the risks and cover them by insurance.
The invited representatives of different business units on the panel promise an exciting and controversial debate on a highly delicate and important issue.
